Amazing sunrise view from Haleakala

This was the first time for me seeing the sunrise on Haleakala and it was amazing! No other way to put it. The anticipation of seeing the sun break the clouds was worth the early wake up call (4 am), the windy drive up the mountain (about 1 hour from Pukalani), and the frigid cold (39 degrees plus some wind). BTW, that's the Big Island's Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa peeking through the horizon n the backdrop.

What a way to start a Super Bowl Sunday and cap off a great vacation on Maui.

Get the VIP treatment at Kapalua Resort!

If you're planning a trip to Maui and Kapalua Resort, you need to call Adam Quinn, director of VIP relations, who is all about the fun and helping guest have a great time in West Maui. That's him above with Ensen on his shoulders.

Ensen and I just had a blast with him playing Disc Golf (yes, they have disc golf here...kind of like frisbee golf) which was super fun, as well as got a tour of the new three-hole golf course opening soon. So no excuses that you can't play golf because you don't have time. There's plenty of options now for fun.

Adam knows the Kapalua area inside and out and can get to places many can't for serious VIP tours. Sky is the limit when working with him. Ziplines, hiking, and golf are just some of the great activities here. Not to mention the hotels and restaurants here are fantastic too.

He said I could pass along his contact information. You can let him know I sent you. ;-)

Having spent a good half day here at the resort, now I understand why so many love coming here. Truly amazing!

Ziplining at Kapalua Adventures on Maui

Family (sans me who has daddy duty watching Ensen) is ziplining this morning through the West Maui mountains. Looks awesome. Kapalua Adventures Upper Mountain Loop to be exact. I'm looking forward to trying this out the next time.

Kelly has promised me plenty of video and photos, so we'll share the experience soon.

Tonight's lineup...beer lineup that is!

The net results following a trip to Hawaii Liquor Superstore in Kahului. Prepared for tonight's BBQ with Anchor Steam Porter, Sam Adams Chocolate Bock ($15/bottle...wow!), Celebrator, and the Maui Brewing Co. Coconut Porter. Can I get anyone a beer?
