I’m told by my colleague that the Polynesian Cultural Center is currently running a Kamaaina Holiday Special for Ha: Breath of Life for a limited time. Hawaii residents (with a valid ID) can purchase tickets to see Ha for the low price of $25, and until the end of the year dine for free at the PCC’s Gateway Buffet. If you're looking for all things Hawaii (and local) in Seattle, this is a good place to find it. From aloha shirts and lei to poi, Portuguese sausage, li hing mui, mochi crunch, chocolate mac nuts, and Kauai Kookies, the store has all the creature comforts of home. The ambiance of the store reminds me of a cross between Hilo Hattie and a local grocery store. Some good stuff here!

Here's a view of downtown Honolulu I've not seen before in real life. This shot was taken from Sand Island State Park, across Honolulu Harbor, with my iPhone. You can see Aloha Tower on the left. So peaceful and beautiful from this vantage point. Fireworks must look amazing from here on Fourth of July and New Year's Eve.

My wife's uncle has the most bountiful backyard. Today we raided his lychee tree...with his permission of course. The fruit is so sweet and the seed inside is tiny. Locals in Hawaii know this is a good situation. Yum! Time to go eat some now...

Friends brought over this chocolate haupia from Yama's Fish Market and it's the most sinful dessert I've tasted in a while. Rich, dark chocolate, coconut, deccadent, goodness. Never had this before! My new favorite dessert right now. Oh yeah, the sweet potato haupia pie was good too! ;-) Highly recommend you give this a try!
